Biography

Conductor Nicolas Duna is a multifaceted artist. Apart from mastering the orchestral and operatic repertoire, he is particularly interested in music from the 20th and 21st centuries, having even premièred works for ensemble and contemporary chamber operas.

He studied orchestra conducting in Buenos Aires with Carlos Vieu and Luis Gorelik and with Laurent Gay in Geneva University of Music, where he obtained his MA degree.

During his master, he specialised in Arnold Schoenberg’s Chamber Symphonies, which he conducted in Buenos Aires and Geneva and were the subject of his thesis work. In 2017 he won the Premier Prix at the Opéra de Baugé International Conducting Competition in France.

He has also studied piano, viola, French horn, singing and choral conducting. Nicolas Duna was born in Buenos Aires in 1990, and lives in Geneva since 2016.
